Gary Kemmer, shown here at the upper left, had the original idea to form the band in the year 2000 and teamed up with Duke Cullinan. Dave Morefield was soon recruited and Glen Maiden followed, by responding to Gary's newspaper ad. In March of 2001 they all met and performed together for the first time at Duke's garage on Roswell Alley in Long Beach, Calif. By summer of 2001 it was time to select a name for the band. The band's name Give Me Back My Wig was presented by Duke Cullinan and was later drawn from a hat among the other names that where not selected. The band was built on strong rehearsal values as kept today. They set out to learn all the blues standards as if the songs where being played by the writer for the first time. They each studied the history of the blues and shared endless books and videos. After mastering those values the boys soon started to develop their own style and sound. Soon they found themselves being known as "The Most Powerful Dual Guitar Attack In Blues Today".

Today the band continues in the sprit of these founding members and strives to build the band on the foundation set before them. When you come out to hear this band play you never know when one or more of the founding members are joined on stage performing with the rest of the band. A real treat to experience.

Drummer, Glen Maiden is the only original member still performing with WIG today.

Dave Morefield was the first to depart the band in 2003. Current Bass Player Bill Hayes replaced Dave shortly after.

Gary Kemmer left the band in 2005 never to be replaced.

Duke Cullinan left the band in 2007.
